



We went to the Bibliothèque nationale de France (the French National Library) today where they have a great cinema (MK2, pictured above back in November)…the boys really wanted to see The Golden Compass. The key critics (the boys) really enjoyed the movie, as did we. The complex itself is a little austere (four giant towers designed to look like books opened up or table legs on a table turned upside down (the bottom of the table top is what we are standing on). They also created this forest in the middle of the complex, and the library meeting rooms are underground or below the surface at least, while all the books are stored in the towers. Memorable albeit highly argued about in design and librarian worlds.
