Trains, scooters, exams and strikes

Back in Paris now after a lovely trip down from Brussels. A pic of Gare du Nord above which is the station where the trains connect Paris to London and Brussels.

The city is in chaos - striking transport workers again had me on the road to and from the boys' school twice today (four to/from legs). Liam hit the pavement on the way to school this morning at 7:45 AM in the wet dusk atmosphere...poor guy thought he broke his nose after falling off the scooter. He looks better tonight (see the pic above) but it is slightly swollen. We have to do the same tomorrow, and it is apparently going to be raining so wish us well. Other government workers (post office, etc.) start striking tomorrow too...this is getting a little tiring to be honest.

Tom is in mid-term exam week (Math, Science, English, History/Geography and French) so he is hunkering down and studying hard. All the exams are in French except English + he can't use his dictionary in his History/Geography exam...nothing like throwing them in the deep end!

Jan spent three hours in the immigrant processing centre getting her carte de sejour (long stay visa). X-rays, medical test, video to watch, interview, and a future required course on French culture. I did the same a little over a week ago but I never had to watch a video or get as serious an interview. She must look a little shady...:)
