Tom & Liam's school is about eight blocks from the Eiffel Tower, and I often pass it as I work, some days, in the American Library of Paris - the largest English language library on continental Europe. You can't help but look at the tower as you walk by as it is still one of the tallest structures in Paris, despite being being completed way back when in 1889, and it is so ingrained in the mind given its iconic stature. The Parisians built it thinking it would be a temporary structure, to be taken down after the Paris Exposition (World's Fair) of 1889.
