Greetings from Paris!
This is the first posting on the Canucks de Madison à Paris family blog. The Haller/Olds famille moved to Paris from Madison WI in mid-July 2007 for a year-long sabbatical (K.) and adventure (all of us). The first six weeks has been eventful, full of all sorts of getting acquainted trips throughout the city, and endless hours of form filling to acquire the carte de sejour (that allows us to be here for a year), metro passes, school ID cards for Tom & Liam, Velib passes, bank accounts, mobile phone accounts, library cards, more library cards, wireless and home telephone accounts, ID for my host university (Sciences Po), and so on! The fact that the city shuts down for all of August (holidays) slows things down too, and forces faster-paced expectations to adjust. We are finally feeling settled, and Paris is springing to life, especially today.
I will be updating this blog regularly...better than emailing JPG images that clog up accounts, I/we hope, and better than via my Facebook site that Jan so frequently mocks (hey, its better than a tight curl perm and a red convertible!).
Bye for now,
Kris [this blog is officially sanctioned by Jan, Tom & Liam]
