Summer (finally) in autumn in Paris

28 C or so outside and a gorgeously sunny day...finally summer arrives, 1.5 months late, but it has arrived nonetheless so who can complain.

It was a pretty lazy weekend, punctuated by homework (the boys are hard at work in the attached pics), swimming in the Butte aux Cailles public pool near us (it was built in the 1920s), and a great Sunday afternoon bike ride through the Bois de Vincennes, a 2500 acre park established in the 1800s. It is actually broken up into a variety of parks such as the cool Parc Floral where we saw (15 Euros for the family!) Wynton Marsalis and his band in late July. Again, I am amazed but also really impressed by the level of public support for public facilities and events...and the result is everyone gets out and into public spaces and the city is alive and buzzing.

Time to get organized for a busy week ahead...hope everyone is well!
